Welcome to the Intermediate Checkpoint 1 class. I’m super excited that you’re taking your Pilates practice to the next level. The exercises in this class are original BASI Pilates exercises created by Rael Isacowitz. If this is your first time practicing an intermediate class. Please take your time, listen to your body, and follow my instructions carefully. It’s absolutely OK not to master any or all exercises on your first try! Practice leads to progress. Respect your body and give it time to build strength and confidence. Maintain a consistent practice. If this isn’t your first time, I challenge you to take your practice deep into your mind and body flow. Find peace and fluidity in each movement through connected breath! You will perform exercises like the Hundred, Roll Over, Double and Single Leg Stretch, Criss Cross, Shoulder Bridge Prep, Cat Stretch, Front and Back Support, Saw, Spine Twist, Single and Double Leg Kick, and Seal Puppy. Let’s get on your mat. Kudos to you for finishing the class with me. Wow! You’re a champ, especially if this was your first Intermediate class. Pilates is always a journey of improvement, and there’s always room to chisel deeper if you allow yourself to immerse in the movement. Please come back and repeat this class over and over until you get comfortable with each exercise. When you’re physically and mentally ready, let’s move on to the second intermediate checkpoint class. We’ll be doing Hamstring Pull 1, 2, & 3, transitioning from Roll Like a Ball to an Open Leg Rocker. We’ll advance the Back and Front Support to movements where one leg lifts off the floor, known as Leg Pull Back and Leg Pull Front. You’ll also be trying the Corkscrew, Side Kick, Swimming, Rocking Prep, and Teaser Prep. See you on the mat for Intermediate BASI Pilates Checkpoint 2 class.
